Fresh sockeye with beets and beet greens from the garden
Have you noticed fresh Alaska sockeye salmon at your local seafood counter? We eat as much as we can afford from Whole Foods. Recently we harvested our remaining chiogga beets to make a simple side with olive oil and red wine vinegar. And the finest greens of all are the beet tops, gently sauteed with garlic.
Sam Fromartz at the Chews Wise blog was recently visiting Alaska and posted this video about the salmon fishery on Copper River.

We are engaging the concerns of a hungry planet--slowly--right here in our kitchen garden in the District of Columbia, about a mile from the White House.
