Do opera singers make the best chicken eviscerators?

This summer we hosted bass baritone Andrew for the local opera season. Andrew couldn’t wait to help us process our Freedom Rangers and we were shocked to see how quickly he learned how to clean out those birds. Truly, he was a rock star when it came to gutting chickens.

More recently, my soprano sister, who had a singing career before becoming a voice teacher, moved to the Albany area with her husband. She volunteered to help with this week’s slaughter and she, too, proved to be an eviscerating prodigy. That’s her on the left, getting her first lesson from my wife.

I don’t know what it is about these opera singers, but we have to conclude that they have some kind of special touch when it comes to cleaning poultry.
