Blogging for Positive Change

July 9th, 2007 · 2 Comments · Posted in Uncategorized

Christa at the Calendula & Concrete blog has nominated The Slow Cook for a Bloggers for Positive Global Change” award. This meme was created originally by Climate of Our Future, to salute bloggers who are taking steps to make the world a better place.

Now it’s my turn to nominate five blogs that I think are making a difference. The five I’ve chosen are blogs I admire and turn to on a regular basis to see how others in the human species and especially in the food world are trying to save our planet, one step at a time.

1. Accidental Hedonist. Specifically Kate Hopkins at the Accidental Hedonist. Whether writing about bottled water or politics at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Kate is a great observer who delivers a keen insight and an engaging style.

2. Ethicurian. The first place to turn for news and commentary about what is happening to our food supply. Indispensable for anyone who wants to engage in the struggle for healthy food and strong communities.

3. Great Big Vegetable Challenge. A British mom’s ingenious quest for ways to serve her son vegetables–and educate us all about the possibilities.

4. Blog Fish. Insider news and views about the carnage taking place in our oceans and the struggle for sustainable fisheries.

5. Chef Ann. Ostensibly about feeding kids healthy food, Ann Cooper is ahead of the curve with news and commentary about the health of our food system, from farm to table.

The people I have nominated can now participate by following these simple steps:
Write a post with links to up to 5 blogs that you think are trying to change the world in a positive way.
In your post, make sure you link back to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme.
Leave a comment or message for the bloggers you’ve tagged, so they know they’re now part of the meme.
Optional: Proudly display the “Bloggers for Positive Global Change” award badge with a link to the post you wrote up.
