Free Vegetable Seeds?

Our friend Pattie at FoodShed Planet writes today about a remarkable couple in San Antonio, Texas, whose full-time occupation is running a small non-profit that provides heirloom garden seeds free to anyone who wants them. You don’t even have to pay for the postage.
Pattie for some time has been crusading for victory gardens and lately has started a community garden near her home in Atlanta. She recently took delivery of some free seeds, which she plans to pass along to some of the needy folk who are involved in the community garden.
Take this as more evidence of the passion that has been stirred to action around the idea of growing our own food–in this case a small organization called The Dinner Garden that relies entirely on donations for funding and volunteer labor to get the seeds out. Another place for free seeds is America the Beautiful Fund, which distributes donations from seed companies.
See, there’s no excuse not to grow your own produce.

I am still unemployed due to layoffs and need to grow fresh vegetables to keep healthy with my Stage IV renal disease. Any possible way to get some seeds would be more than appreciated. Our local food banks try to get fresh vegetables in but no always able.I would be more than willing to donate to our Catholic Community Services as they have always been there in our time of need.
