James Beard, a man of large appetites

Three Friends of Slow Cook right here in the District of Columbia have been nominated for James Beard Awards in the journalism category.

Kojo Nnamdi at WAMU FM is up for a broadcast prize on account of his weekly Wednesday shows devoted to food. (Michael Martinez and Brendan Sweeney have worked tirelessly as producers for the show.). Tim Carman, author of the Young and Hungry column at the Washington City Paper, is nominated for his story, “How Not to Hire a Chef.” And The Washington Post is in the hunt for best food section.

Congratulations to all and good luck with the final voting.
