Home Again, Home Again

After the “polar vortex,” spring in January. With temperatures climbing into the 40s, I took the sheep back to the upper pasture. They seem to prefer grazing to eating hay. But they couldn’t stay long. Unfortunately, the ground remains frozen, which means I can’t move the portable electric fencing to make a new paddock for the sheep without drilling holes for the spikes at the end of the plastic fence posts. No thanks. After a few days, it was back down the hill.
The sheep are so well trained, I really need only point them in the right direction any more and off they trot. I already had a trough of grain waiting for them in the permanent paddock and had left the gate open. So they ran ahead and I snapped this photo. With our girls, a bucket of grain works just as well as a herding dog.
