End of Winter Sky

Spring arrived officially yesterday but we’re still frozen here in Upstate New York, with at least six inches of iced-over snow on the ground and overnight temperatures forecast in the teens this weekend. We don’t really see signs of a thaw until late next week when we’ll be creeping up on April.
The weatherman says this month of March will likely go down as one of the coldest since records were first kept in 1820. Snowfall this winter has been something like 30 inches above the 30-year normal. One thing’s for sure: our first year on the farm has been anything but dull.
