Moroccan Parents Night Dinner

Our parents night dinner was a rousing success last night. The Moroccan menu with seven-vegetable couscous, carrot salad and a green salad with manadarin oranges seasoned with orange blossom water had kids coming back to the buffet for seconds and thirds.
The bowls of gingerbread cookies we placed on the dining tables didn’t last long. They even ate all the pickled green tomatoes!
And look how nicely the food matched the plates, purchased at a local Safeway. The art classes made centerpieces with candles, and we had printed menus as well.
The staff from the after school program is always a huge help. This time they executed a flawless dinner service. The kids are responsible for bringing their families’ plates to the buffet and serving their parents. They do a great job with a high degree of enthusiasm.
And what about those vegetables? Well, I have to say I was a little disappointed at the number of kids who took the couscous but passed on the vegetable stew. But that’s kids for you. They’d rather eat plain couscous than spoil it with vegetables.
