Momma and Fawn Sited

Browsing in tall grass along the fence
We’ve had our first sighting of momma deer and baby deer.
You may remember me coming upon a young fawn while scything milkweed in the upper pasture. It was just a couple of days old at the time. After taking it into the house and collecting my thoughts, I returned it to its place in the tall grass. A week later, I flushed it out of the grass some distance away, again while scything.
The mother deer frequently visits, browsing in the yard around the house. But today was the first time we’ve seen the two together, the mother leading her youngster along the fence line. I can only guess that they live in a grove of trees on the property and walk down the hill to feed. We recently had the upper pasture mowed and I feared the fawn may have been run over. But apparently not. Here they are, as you can see in the photo above.
