Cows Hate to Be Alone

With the recent warm spell, we herded the sheep up the hill to continue grazing the upper pasture.
Emily, our Jersey heifer, stayed behind in the permanent paddock to make an appointment to have her hooves trimmed. She didn’t like it much, being all alone. At one point she stood in the paddock, looked up the hill and bellowed for her friends the sheep.
After her pedicure, Emily welcomed her rope halter and gladly followed us to rejoin the herd, stopping briefly in the orchard to nibble on some fresh grass.
