Cow Sex: Take 2

My computer died this morning. So until a new one arrives, I am back to posting on the iPad, which is a real pain in the butt.
Speaking of pains in the butt, the hormone shot we had hoped would bring our Jersey cow Emily into heat didn’t really work. So we had a second visit from our vet Dr. Dan, who you see in the photo above with his arm up Emily’s rear maneuvering a sonogram device. He views the images from the sonogram with those goggles he’s wearing.
After determining that all the vital sex parts were in good working order, Dr. Dan inserted what can only be described as a bovine IUD, except this one is saturated with a hormone designed to urge Emily’s ovaries into overdrive. Next Friday, my job is to remove the device and give her another shot that’s expected to cause “a very strong heat” within 48 hours, at which point we call the inseminator to really ramp things up.
In other words, if all goes according to plan, Emily should be pregnant a week from now. Of course, if we want to know for sure, we’ll have to call back Dr. Dan to do his anal imaging probe again.
